New .AU domain names available for Registration

Register yourbusiness.au today

We are happy to announce that the new .au (auDA) has launched! These new .AU domains are available for registration now. Let TranTech help protect your business identity.

These shorter domain names will end in .au rather than .com.au, .net.au, .org.au, .gov.au or .edu.au. All Australian businesses will have until the 20th of September, 2022 to reserve their .au equivalent domain name, then it becomes available to the general public.

What can you do with the new .au address?
It will work just like the .com.au address. Your clients could reach your website at yourbusiness.au or yourbusiness.com.au

You could also have an alias email address setup to your existing account at no extra ongoing cost

Eg. admin@trantech.au and admin@trantech.com.au will both go into the same inbox once setup.

Why do I want this ?

Mainly to protect your brand and identity online.
TranTech are suggesting this registration in order to avoid creating another avenue for cybercriminals to conduct fraudulent cyber activities. Opportunistic cybercriminals could register your .au domain name in an attempt to impersonate your business.
For example, if you have currently registered yourbusiness.com.au, a cybercriminal could register yourbusiness.au and use these domains to conduct fraudulent cyber activities.
Will Australian businesses accept this change and all start using the new .AU as standard?

Honestly, we don't know. New domain names have been released in the past and the adoption was less than expected. Regardless, the new domain names being used widely or not, our professional advice is to make the purchase based on protecting your brand. We are leading by example and have already lodged our request fo the domain as we do not want to take the risk.

How much does the new domain name cost?
The new .au Domain names are $25 per year at the moment + an average of 30 minutes to setup your domain redirect and extra email alias.

What do I need to do ?

Send us an email at support@trantech.com.au and we will get the process rolling. We will need your current ABN and to confirm you have the rights to the .com.au or .net.au domain. In other words, you currently own the .com.au or .net.au domain.

Take it to another level.
We can also register yourbusinesscom.au as an extra layer of protection againt cyber fraud.
